Sagano Bamboo ForestFree: All time

The famous Sagano bamboo forest is located in outskirt of Kyoto, in a district called Arashiyama (30 mins from central Kyoto). The district itself is a popular tourist destination since the Heian Period (8th century). In the bamboo forest is interestingly a natural site. Walking along the path within the Sagano bamboo grove, you’ll hear a soothing sound that wind makes when blowing amongst the bamboo. The sound has been voted as one of the “one hundred must-be-preserved sounds of Japan” by the Japanese government.
