Sultanahmet MosqueFree: All time

Due to the blue tiles surrounding the walls of its interior design, the Sultanahmet Mosque is more commonly known as the Blue Mosque This mosque was built by Sultan Ahmet I to rival the grandeur of the nearby Aya Sofya. Today, besides being a popular tourist attraction, it still serves as a functioning mosque. The site is closed to non-worshippers for a half hour or so during the five daily prayers. Best way to see the great architecture of the Blue Mosque is to approach it from the Hippodrome (west side of the mosque).
