Recoleta CemeteryFree: Tuesdays and Thursdays 11am

Located in the upscale Recoleta neighborhood, this cemetery is the resting place of political and social elites in Argentina. The most famous figure is probably Eva Peron (hint: Madonna and “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”), the first Lady of Argentina. The architecture of the cemetery reflects the passage of time; from Neoclassical, Neogothic, Art Nuevo, Art Deco and even modern styles of over 6,400 mausoleums. The entrance is free at all time but do go for the free English speaking tours that run every Tuesday and Thursday at 11am. The tour runs for around two hours.
