Similar to Khan Academy, Codecademy offers free courses online. It is an interactive platform that provides free coding classes in six different programming languages (Python, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, Ruby, HTML and CSS). Besides the classes, Codecademy also provides a forum where enthusiasts, beginners, and advanced coders can come together to discuss coding. Their Code Year program is especially successful. The program intends to help people follow through on a New Year’s Resolution to learn how to program, by introducing a new course for every week in 2012. Over 450,000 people took the courses.
