Lavatorial TourFree: All time

See a different side of central London on an audio walking tour tracing the city’s history of sanitation. Created by Rachel Erickson, a quirky public toilet enthusiastic and tour guide who calls herself the Loo Lady, this walking tour’s audio plays through your smartphone automatically at various GPS locations. Download the free app before you head out so you don’t have to pay for data, and then put your phone away and listen as she guides you to some of London’s most iconic views, with a twist. Her directions are usually very clear, but there’s access to offline maps if you do get lost. The original music and sound effects make for a really entertaining experience and, for the budget-conscious, there are plenty of free loos along the way!

Address: Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, London
Directions: The tour starts near Waterloo Station on the river terrace of the Royal Festival Hall. Position yourself in the centre of the terrace between the two staircases.
