Air Force MemorialFree: All time

The Air Force Memorial is a rather new attraction. Established in 2006, the memorial honors the service of  some 54,000 men and women of the United States Air Force who died in combat. Even though it’s located in Arlington, Virginia, the memorial’s three soaring spires can be easily seen on the skyline of Washington, D.C.  These steel arcs evoke the image of contrails of the Air Force Thunderbirds during their “bomb burst” maneuver. The absence of the fourth contrail suggests the missing man formation used at Air Force funeral fly-overs.
